Day Trip to the Island of the Moon

The Island of the Moon, or Koati Island, located 45 minutes by boat from the Island of the Sun. Visible from our lodge, it is the second-most sacred island of Lake Titicaca (after the Island of the Sun). In the time of the Incas, it was the place destined for the virgins of the Sun or Ajllawasi, where only beautiful women chosen to live a life dedicated to worship lived. It has a temple called Iñak Uyu for the cult of the Moon, the opposite and complementary deity to the Sun. This structure has influences from different periods making it an unmissable visit for lovers of Andean archeology.
